Educational activities of nurses in the field of nutrition

Abstract:

Účelem této bakalářské práce je zhodnocení kvality a využití edukace sester pacientů v oblasti výživy, její efektivita a pozitivní vliv u daného onemocnění. Hlavním cílem je zjištění, zda může edukace výživy značně ovlivnit stávající stav pacienta a zlepšit tak kvalitu života jedince a v jakém rozsahu zdravotní sestry tuto činnost provádějí. Teoretickou část mé práce jsem čerpala z odborné literatury, která se těmito obory zaobírá. V této části je popsána zdravá výživa, složení stravy, stravovací návyky, chyby ve stravování a dopad na zdraví pacienta při podvýživě či obezitě z odborného pohledu. Dále se zaměřuji na správnou edukaci, proces edukace a činnost sester v této oblasti. V neposlední řadě se věnuji také roli sestry v této oblasti výživy. Praktická část je vypracována na základě kvantitativního výzkumu s využitím standardizovaného dotazníku. Předem stanovené cíle jsou následně vyhodnocené. Po shromáždění veškerých potřebných informací k vyhodnocení výsledků je zřejmé, že většina zdravotních sester shledává edukaci v oblasti výživy přínosnou ke zlepšení kvality života pacienta. Pacienti z nemocničních zařízení jsou stejného názoru.

Abstract:

The purpose of this Bachelor thesis is to evaluate the quality and practical use of education the nurses receive on the subject of nutrition as well as its effectiveness and positive influence on a specific disease. The main aim is to determine, whether nutrition education can significantly affect the current state of the patient, improve his/ hers quality of life and to what extent do the nurses carry out this activity. I drew the theoretical part of my work from literature which deals with these subjects. This section describes a healthy diet, the composition of the diet, eating habits, mistakes in eating and impact on the health of the patient in case of malnutrition or obesity from a professional point of view. In addition, I focus on the correct education, the process of education and activity of nurses in this area. I also focus on the role of nurses in the area of nutrition. The practical part is drawn up on the basis of quantitative research using a standardised questionnaire. Prearranged hypotheses were then evaluated. After gathering all the necessary information to evaluate the results, it is clear that the majority of nurses find the education in the area of nutrition beneficial for the patient's quality of life.
