Efektivní práce s prostorovými daty v rozšířené realitě

Abstract:

Motivací vzniku této diplomové práce byla stoupající popularita technologií jako Unreal Engine a rozšířená realita. Hlavním cílem je prozkoumání možností integrace těchto technologií s prostorovými daty a jejich efektivní zpracování. Na základě poznatků získaných z rešerše na začátku této práce byl vyvíjen prototyp aplikace pro rozšířenou realitu. Tato aplikace využívá momentálně populární formáty prostorových dat – konkrétně Universal Scene Description (USD) a 3DTiles. Součástí práce je detailní popis procesu vývoje softwaru v nástroji Unreal Engine. Práce využívá mnoho různých nástrojů a technik, včetně těch experimentálních. Proces nasazení finální aplikace na mobilní zařízení s operačním systémem Android je také součástí. Závěrečná část práce zahrnuje testování aplikace za účelem vyhodnocení její funkčnosti a použitelnosti. Podle výsledků testování byly navrženy možnosti zlepšení – nejen pro vyvíjenou aplikaci, ale i pro beta technologie použité při procesu tvorby.

Abstract:

This master thesis creation is motivated by the rising popularity of Unreal Engine and augmented reality technologies. Its primary focus is to explore the integration of these technologies with spatial data formats and their effective management. Based on the gained insights from research in this area, this thesis aims to develop a prototype of AR application that leverages popular data formats –⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠ namely Universal scene description and 3DTiles. The thesis provides a detailed description of the development process within the Unreal Engine. Various tools and techniques (including experimental ones) were used. Deployment of the final application onto an Android mobile device is also included. Final parts of the work includes testing of the application to evaluate its functionality and usability. Based on the testing results, this thesis offers suggestions for improvement, not only for the developed application but also for the beta technologies used in the process.
