Abstract:

V této práci zkoumám problém expresivity hudby. Otázka zní: Jak může instrumentální hudba vyjadřovat emoce? Zabývám se dvěma současnými filosofickými přístupy, které se pokouší o zodpovězení této otázky. Prvním přístupem je teorie podobnosti, vytvořená filosofy Stephenem Daviesem a Peterem Kivym. Oba mají své vlastní speciální přístupy, které nazývají appearance emotionalism a contour theory. Druhým přístupem je teorie persony. V této teorii se zabývám přístupem filosofa Jerrolda Levinsona a filosofky Jenefer Robinson. Potýkám se s kritikou obou teorií a následně je srovnávám s cílem dobrat se závěru.

Abstract:

In this thesis, I concern the problem of musical expressivity. The question is: How can instrumental music express the emotions? I deal with two recent philosophical accounts that are trying to answer this question. The first account is resemblance theory, made by philosophers Stephen Davies and Peter Kivy. They both have their special approaches which they call the appearance emotionalism and the contour theory. The second account is persona theory. I concern approach of philosophers Jerrold Levinson and Jenefer Robinson to this theory. I deal with the criticism of both theories and I compare them in order to make the conclusion.
