Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the space race between the United States of America and the Soviet Union. Emphasis is placed not only on the space race as such, but also on the historical circumstances surrounding its origins and its consequences for the further development of the Cold War with focus on both propagandistic and technological aspects. The aim of the thesis is to prove that it is impossible to see space race as anything other than a matter of competing ideologies and an inseparable component of the Cold War.

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá vesmírným závodem mezi Spojenými státy Americkými a Sovětským svazem. Je kladen důraz nejen na vesmírný závod jako takový, nýbrž i na historické okolnosti, které vedly k jeho vzniku, a dopady, které měl na další vývoj studené války jak z hlediska technologického, tak hlediska propagandistického. Cílem práce je dokázat, že vesmírný závod nelze chápat jinak než jakožto ideologickou záležitost a neoddělitelnou součást studené války.
