Úroveň nadváhy a obezity európskych detí neustále rastie, preto možno súhlasiť s tým, že prevencia je nevyhnutná. Existujú tri aspekty životného štýlu detí, ktoré prispievajú k obezite alebo naopak znižujú riziko jej vzniku: strava, stupeň fyzickej aktivity a úroveň sedavého spôsobu života, teda počet hodín strávených pri televízore a počítačových hrách.
