Micro-historical analysis of sharing the photos on social network Instagram with case study of sharing detailed photo of Jobst Luxembourg statue in Brno

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na fenomén sdílení totožných fotografií na sociálních sítích. Pomocí mikrohistorické analýzy ve svojí práci objasním vývoj role fotografie, kterou získává nejen díky digitalizaci, ale i v kontextu sociálních sítí. Práce reflektuje teoretické koncepty relevantních autorů, jako jsou Benjamin Walter, Susan Sontag nebo Lev Manovich, kteří se ve svých pracích zabývají právě společenským vývojem fotografie. Použité teoretické koncepty aplikuji na případovou studii konkrétního příkladu, a to na fotografii detailu jezdecké sochy Jošta Lucemburského od Jaroslava Róny, která stojí na Moravském náměstí v Brně. Prostřednictvím tohoto příkladu budu ve své práci demonstrovat fenomén vkládání totožných fotografií různých uživatelů na sociální sítě, konkrétně se zaměřím na Instagram. Tato sociální síť je využívána primárně ke sdílení fotografíí, uživatelé se na ni orientují podle tzv. hashtagů, což je pro záměr mé případové studie vhodné. Práce se zaměří na sebeprezentaci uživatelů na sociální síti, jejich žití na zkušenosti jiných a na fenomén narcismu.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the phenomenon of sharing identical photos on social networks. Using micro-historical analysis of this work I will clarify a development of the role of the photo that gets not only through digitization, but also in the context of social networks. Thesis reflects theoretical concepts of relevant authors such as Walter Benjamin, Susan Sontag and Lev Manovich, who deal in their works exactly with social development of photos. Used theoretical concepts I will apply on the case study of a specific example – photo of detail of equestrian statue of Jobst Luxembourg made by Jaroslav Rona, which stands on Moravian Square in Brno. Through this example, I will demonstrate the phenomenon inserting identical pictures of different users on social networks, specifically I will focus on Instagram. This social network is used primarily for sharing the photos, users orient there according to so called hashtags, which is appropriate for the intention of my case study. Work will focus on self-presentation of users on the social network, their living on the experiencies of others and the phenomenon of narcissism.
