Development of institutional care for orphaned children

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá historickým vývojem ústavní péče o osiřelé a opuštěné děti v naší zemi. Teoretická část práce předkládá postupný vývoj jednotlivých institucí zastřešujících péči o děti bez domova a snaží se tak poukázat na začátky dnešních dětských domovů a dalších specializovaných zařízení péče o děti. Důležitou součástí práce je také postavení osiřelého dítěte v průběhu historických etap. Další kapitoly detailněji rozebírají přímo ústavní péči a některé její aspekty. Praktická část práce je založena na výzkumu kvalitativního typu, jehož hlavním cílem je analyzovat nejvýraznější rozdíly v ústavní péči v porovnání mezi minulostí a současností. Za tímto účelem je využita metoda sběru dat formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s cíleně vybranými respondenty.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the historical development of institutional care for orphaned and abandoned children in our country. The theoretical part of the work presents the gradual development of individual institutions covering homeless children and thus tries to point out the beginnings of today's children's homes and other specialized childcare facilities. An important part of the work is also the position of the orphaned child during the historical stages. Next chapters are focused on institutional care and some of its aspects in more detail. The practical part of the work is based on qualitative research, the main goal of which is to analyze the most significant differences in institutional care in comparison between the past and the present. For this purpose, the method of data collection in the form of semi-structured interviews with purposefully selected respondents is used.
