Economic, fiscal and ecological aspects of heating production industry in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce popisuje současný stav teplárenství v České republice a identifikuje problémy a výzvy, kterým toto odvětví čelí v důsledku snah o zpomalení či úplné zastavení globálního oteplování. V teoretické části tato práce popisuje stav českého teplárenství a zabývá se jednotlivými problémy, které často vznikají vlivem regulace, která v současné době nepřetržitě nabývá na intenzitě v důsledku politického a celospolečenského tlaku na dosažení uhlíkové neutrality. Ve své praktické části má tato práce za cíl stanovit klíčové faktory ovlivňující vývoj nákladů uhelných tepláren a tepláren, které přejdou na zemní plyn jakožto zdroj paliva. Následně jsou na modelové teplárně porovnány vývoje nákladů obou výše uvedených variant a poté je provedeno vyhodnocení za účelem stanovit, zdali přechod na šetrnější palivo z hlediska uhlíkové stopy je ekonomicky racionální volbou. Závěrem práce je nastíněn další možný vývoj teplárenského odvětví v České republice.

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis describes the current state of the heat production industry and identifies issues and challenges which this industry faces due to the efforts to slow down or completely halt the global warming. The state of the heating industry is described in the theoretical part of this thesis. Furthermore, the theoretical part of this thesis examines individual problems which frequently originate from the regulation which continuously intensifies, as a result of the political and societal pressure to achieve the carbon neutrality. In the practical part, this thesis aims to determine the key factors affecting the cost development of the coal heat production plants and of such heat production plants that are going to switch to the natural gas as the fuel source. Subsequently, the cost development of both above stated options is compared using the demonstration heat production plant and in order to establish whether the transition to the more environmentally friendly fuel in terms of the carbon footprint is economically rational choice, an evaluation is conducted. The further possible development of the heat production industry in the Czech Republic is outlined in the conclusion of this thesis.
