The transformation of the Czech economy after the Velvet Revolution and its impact on the working lives of ordinary people in the Opava region

Abstract:

Diplomová práce v teoretické části postihuje dopady transformace ekonomiky po Sametové revoluci na profesní kariéry a pracovní životy obyčejných lidí na Opavsku. Práce vychází z výzkumné hypotézy, že přechod z plánované ekonomiky v ekonomiku tržní měl negativní dopady, jako např. ztráta zaměstnání, sociálních jistot, ale i četná pozitiva, jako např. rozvoj soukromého podnikání a nové možnosti uplatnění se na trhu práce. Část tzv. "šedé" ekonomiky normalizační éry se transformovala v legální živnostenské podnikání. Výzkumná část je založena na výpovědích pamětníků žijících v Opavě a jejím okolí, kteří byli v dané době ekonomicky aktivními osobami. Cílem didaktické části je vytvoření didaktických podkladů pro učitele k výuce procesu transformace ekonomiky tzv. "devadesátek" a jejího dopadu na pracovní životy obyčejných lidí. Je zpracována přístupy badatelské výuky. Kromě výpovědí pamětníků je zakomponována filmová tvorba a vizuální prameny.

Abstract:

The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the impact of the economic transformation after the Velvet Revolution on the professional careers and working lives of ordinary people in the Opava region. The thesis is based on the research hypothesis that the transition from a planned economy to a market economy had negative effects, such as loss of employment and social security, but also numerous positive effects, such as the development of private business and new opportunities for employment in the labour market. A part of the so-called "grey" economy of the normalization era was transformed into a legal trade business. The research part is based on the testimonies of witnesses living in Opava and its surroundings who were economically active at the time. The aim of the didactic part is to create didactic materials for teachers to teach the process of transformation of the economy of the so-called "nineties" and its impact on the working lives of ordinary people. It is designed using the inquiry-based learning approach. In addition to the testimonies of witnesses, film production and visual sources are incorporated.
