Digital EDM platforms and the listening experience in sports culture

Abstract:

Within the content of my forthcoming thesis, I will analyse Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and its possible prerequisites for use in a sport subculture setting. Alongside this, I will also address the popularity of specific EDM playlists in the theoretical part, specifically focusing on sports culture. I will follow these playlists on two specific digital platforms, such as YouTube and Spotify. Through the analysis of these two as-pects I will get to the practical part of my thesis, which will consist of empirical quan-titative and qualitative research through questionnaires and interviews. Based on the theoretical part, these will be designed to reflect the specific issues I am addressing in this thesis and also to reflect well the respondents' own views, experiences and moti-vations. I will then contrast all my findings with each other, which will lead me to the intended aim of this thesis, which is to analyse the relationship between the needs and motivations of EDM listening on digital platforms within sport culture.

Abstract:

V rámci obsahu nadchádzajúcej diplomovej práce sa budem zaoberať analýzou Elek-tronickej tanečnej hudby (EDM) a jej možných predpokladov pre využite v prostredí športovej subkultúry. Spolu s tým sa budem v teoretickej časti venovať aj obľúbenosti konkrétnych playlistov EDM práve so zameraním na športovú kultúru. Tieto playlisty budem sledovať na dvoch konkrétnych digitálnych platformách, ako sú Youtube a Spotify. Prostredníctvom analýzy týchto dvoch aspektov sa dostanem k praktickej časti mojej práce, ktorá bude pozostávať z empirického kvantitatívneho a kvalitatív-neho výskumu prostredníctvom dotazníkov a rozhovorov. Tieto budú na základe teo-retickej časti zostavené tak, aby reflektovali konkrétnu problematiku, ktorej sa v tejto práci venujem a taktiež, aby dobre odrážali samotné názory, skúsenosti a motivácie respondentov. Následne budem všetky svoje zistenia navzájom so sebou konfronto-vať, čím sa dostanem k predpokladanému cieľu tejto diplomovej práce, ktorým je analýza vzťahov potrieb a motivácií posluchu EDM na digitálnych platformách v rám-ci športovej kultúry.
