The presidents of the Fifth French republic and their approach towards Francophone countries

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o vztahu prezidentů V. Francouzské republiky k bývalým africkým frankofonním koloniím. Cílem práce je pomocí obsahové analýzy vytvořit obraz o jednotlivých prezidentských přístupech k zahraniční politice Francie vůči frankofonní Africe, zhodnotit je a určit hlavní trendy vývoje. V souladu s dosažením cíle je v rámci práce taktéž řešena role prezidenta v politickém systému, nástroje sloužící k uskutečňování zahraniční politiky a výčet světových událostí, které měly vliv na podobu zahraniční politiky Francie. Část práce se také zaměřuje na prostředky šíření kulturního vlivu -- kulturní diplomacii, která měla ve Francouzské zahraniční politice vždy důležitou roli. V rámci této kapitoly se řeší vývoj konceptu Frankofonie, jakožto platformy pro rozvoj vzájemných kulturních i jiných vztahů s frankofonními zeměmi.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the approach of the presidents of the Fifth French republic towards former Francophone African colonies. The aim of this work is to analyze individual presidential foreign policies towards Francophone Africa, to evaluate them and determine the main trends in their evolution. In a context of achieving defined objectives, there is discussed the position of the French president in the Political system, his politcal instruments and world events that had an impact on the form of French foreign policy. Last chapter of the thesis focuses on the ways of expanding cultural influence -- cultural diplomacy which represents an important part of French foreign policy. Within this chapter, the is discussed an evolution of the Francophone concept as a platform for the further cultural cooperation.
