Employability of people with Down syndrome in the region of Brno

Abstract:

Cílem mé bakalářské práce je zodpovědět výzkumnou otázku: „Jaká je míra zaměstnatelnosti osob s Downovým syndromem v Brně a na Brněnsku na uzavřeném pracovním trhu a jaké jsou přínosy a negativa jejich zaměstnání?“ Práce je rozčleněna do tří částí. Předmětem první části je vysvětlení základních pojmů a koncepce vztahující se k dané problematice. Jde zejména o charakteristiky Downova syndromu, systém vzdělávání a integrace na trh práce a koncept zaměstnatelnosti. Druhá část je metodologická, která popisuje charakteristiky výzkumu. Třetí část je empirická, která se odvíjí od názorů respondentů z řad lidí s Downovým syndromem žijících v Brně a na Brněnsku. Dle výsledků tohoto výzkumu lze říci, že zaměstnatelnost lidí s Downovým syndromem je nízká, jelikož sami nevědí, jak se na trhu práce zapojit a rodiny, které jim v tomto směru pomáhají, jsou vůči pomoci úřadu práce a možnému zaměstnání skeptické. Na druhou stranu výzkum ukázal, že tito lidé jsou schopní chodit do zaměstnání a udržet si ho, za předpokladu, že budou vykonávat jednoduchou práci. Na závěr připojuji několik doporučení.

Abstract:

The aim of my bachelor thesis is to answer the research question: “What is the rate of employability of people with Down syndrome in the region of Brno to a closed labor market and what are the benefits and disadvantages of their employment for them?” The thesis is divided into three main parts. The subject of the first part is definition of basic terms relative to the problem. It is mainly characteristic of Down syndrome, special education in Czech Republic, way to integrate those people into the labor market and concept of employment. The second methodological part describes the characteristics of research. The last part is empiric. This part is about opinions of respondents with Down syndrome living in the region of Brno. According to the results of this research, that the employability of people with Down syndrome is low because they do not know how to participate in the labor market and families, enabling them to help with this situation, they are skeptical about help by the labor office and potential employment. On the other hand, research has shown that these people are able to go to work and keep it, assuming that they will perform simple work. In conclusion, I add a few recommendations.
