Scleroplasty surgery in the treatment of progressive myopia in children

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce obsahuje tři hlavní části. První část zahrnuje charakteristiku krátkozrakosti, její rozdělení a základní informace například o výskytu, léčbě a prevenci. Druhá část se zaměřuje na progresivní myopii a třetí obsahuje informace o skleroplastické operaci. V této části práce je popsána historie, starší, ale i dnešní nejpoužívanější metody, materiály, přehled očních klinik, které se pro tuto operaci nejčastěji využívají, a výsledky jejich studií. Závěr práce se snaží shrnout veškerá pro a proti této operace, její kontroverznost a postavení v oftalmologických kruzích u nás i v zahraničí.

Abstract:

Presented bachelor thesis is divided into three main parts. First of them defines short-sightedness, its general types and states basic information about short-sightedness's occurrence, treatment and prevention. Second part covers progressive myopia and the third part describes scleroplasty surgery. The scleroplasty's history, older, as well as most up to date surgery methods and used materials, overview of clinics performing scleroplasty surgery and results of their studies are presented in this part of thesis. A conclusion of pros and cons of described surgery method, its controversy and viewpoint amongst ophtalmology specialists is presented at the end of the thesis.
