The Brno School of Radio and its relation with the Prague management of Radiojournal

Abstract:

Brněnská rozhlasová škola vznikla ve 30. letech 20. století. Bylo to uskupení tvůrců, mezi nimiž vynikal především František Kožík, Dalibor Chalupa a Josef Bezdíček. Rozhlasoví teoretici považují tuto skupinu za progresivní hnutí, které objevilo a zdokonalilo možnosti rozhlasového projevu a podílelo se na rozvoji rozhlasových reportáží a her. Škola vznikla v brněnské odbočce Radiojournalu a kvůli experimentování s žánry měla komplikovaný vztah s pražským vedením společnosti. Tato diplomová práce se prostřednictvím případové studie mediální organizace pokusí popsat a posoudit specifičnost Brněnské rozhlasové školy a interpretovat postoje k ústředí firmy. Hlavním pramenem jsou dobové materiály, především korespondence mezi pražským vedením zastoupeným Ladislavem Šourkem a ředitelem brněnské odbočky Antonínem Slavíkem.

Abstract:

The Brno School of Radio came into existence in the thirties of the 20th century. It was a group of creators, the most outstanding of them were František Kožík, Dalibor Chalupa and Josef Bezdíček. The radio theoreticians regard this group as a progressive movement, which discovered and improved the capabilities of the radio language and participated in the development of the radio coverage and plays. The School came into being in the Brno subdivision of Radiojournal and due to the experiments with genres it had a complicated relation with the company management in Prague. Through the application of a case study of the media organization, this thesis tries to describe and analyze the specifics of the Brno School of Radio and to interpret attitudes towards the company headquarters. The main sources used are historic materials, primarily the correspondence between the Prague management represented by Ladislav Šourek and the Brno branch director Antonín Slavík.
