The Hungarian minority as a factor influencing mutual relations between the Slovak and the Hungarian Republic

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá postojem slovenských a maďarských vlád k problematice maďarské menšiny žijící na Slovensku. Hlavní důraz je kladen na rozdílný přístup jednotlivých vlád k této otázce. Analýza je soustředěna do období počínající podepsáním Základní smlouvy mezi Slovenskem a Maďarskem a končící dojednáním Smlouvy o vzájemné podpoře národnostních menšin.

Abstract:

The text is about the policy of the Slovak and Hungarian governments to the problems of the Hungarian minority living in Slovakia. The main accent of the analysis is concentrated on the different approach of the particular governments of these countries to the problem with this minority. The analysis is focused on the period started with the signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship between Slovakia and Hungary in 1995, and finished with the agreement of the Treaty of mutual support of the national minorities in 2003.
