Deforestation of the Amazon rainforest from anthropological perspective. Comparative study of perception in case of deforestation in the Amazon rainforest

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce bylo studium deforestace v amazonském pralese z antropologické perspektivy. Deforestace rozsáhlých lesních ploch představuje závažný problém nejen pro území zasažená plošným odlesňováním, ale důsledky tohoto procesu jsou monitorovány po celém světě. Oblast s největším podílem odlesněných ploch se nachází na jihoamerickém kontinentu, respektive v Amazonii. Právě zde se nachází amazonský prales, jenž je místem s největší druhovou biodiverzitou a je domovem mnoha domorodých národů. Amazonský prales je ve velkém měřítku z mnoha příčin odlesňován. Důsledky tohoto procesu jsou nedozírné. Hlavním cílem práce bylo zjistit, jak se liší percepce deforestace u studentů Masarykovy univerzity v Brně a tří jihoamerických univerzit (Universidad Nacional Intercultural de la Amazonía v Peru, Universidad del Azuay v Ekvádoru a Universidad Nacional de Ucayali v Peru). Srovnání percepce deforestace bylo provedeno na základě výstupů z dotazníkového šetření. Data byla zpracována ve statistickém programu R. Výstupem této diplomové práce je srovnání odpovědí studentů Masarykovy univerzity v Brně a Universidad Nacional Intercultural de la Amazonía v Peru, Universidad del Azuay v Ekvádoru a Universidad Nacional de Ucayali v Peru.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to study the deforestation in Amazon rainforest from anthropological perspective. Deforestation of large forest areas pose a serious problem not only for deforested areas, but it´s consequences are monitored worldwide. The area with the largest part of deforested area is located on the South American continent or more precisely in the Amazon. The Amazon rainforest is the place with the largest biodiversity of species, and it is home to many indigenous people. The Amazon rainforest is deforested on a large scale for many reasons. The consequences of this process are far-reaching. The main objective of this thesis was to find out how the perception of deforestation differs among the students of Masaryk University in Brno and three South American universities (Universidad Nacional Intercultural de la Amazonía in Peru, Universidad del Azuay in Ecuador and Universidad Nacional de Ucayali in Peru). The comparison of the perception of deforestation was accomplish based on the results of the questionnaire survey. The data were processed in the statistical program R. The output of this diploma thesis is a comparison of the answer of students of Masaryk University in Brno and the Universidad Nacional Intercultural de la Amazonía in Peru, Universidad del Azuay in Ecuador and Universidad Nacional de Ucayali in Peru.
