Preference of deliberation - intuition in decision making

Abstract:

Následující bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na problematiku rozhodovacích stylů, konkrétně intuice a deliberace. Hlavním cílem je zjištění, který z těchto dvou rozhodovacích stylů lidé preferují a jak s tímto rozhodnutím souvisí některé další faktory. Mezi faktory je řazena subjektivní spokojenost s vlastními rozhodnutími, vzdělání, věk a pohlaví. V teoretické části je popsána problematika rozhodování, duálního zpracování a jednotlivé rozhodovací styly. Dále se text zaobírá faktory, které mohou ovlivnit výběr rozhodovacího stylu. Následující kvantitativní výzkum je koncipován na dospělé populaci (N=97) ve věku od 20 do 65 let. Pro zjištění dat o preferenci stylů rozhodování byl použit PID - inventář pro preferenci intuice a deliberace. K zjištění subjektivní spokojenosti s vlastními rozhodnutími byl vytvořen set 5 otázek. Sběr dat probíhal v on-line prostředí a vyhodnocování dat v SPSS programu za pomocí párového t-testu, ANOVA a Pearsonova korelačního koeficientu. V rámci analýzy byla zjišťována preference pro konkrétní styl a také korelace mezi ostatními proměnnými. Výsledky poukazují na signifikantní rozdíl mezi jednotlivými styly u vybraného vzorku populace ve prospěch vyššího skóre u deliberace. Byl také nalezen signifikantní vztah mezi intuitivním stylem a ženským pohlavím a také starší dospělostí a vyšší subjektivní spokojeností s vlastními rozhodnutími.

Abstract:

The following bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of decision-making styles, specifically intuition and deliberation. The main objective is to find out which of these two decision-making styles people prefer and how some other factors are related to this decision. The factors include subjective satisfaction with one's decisions, education, age and gender. In the theoretical part, the issues of decision making, dual processing and the different decision styles are described. Next, the text discusses the factors that may influence the choice of decision-making style. The following quantitative research is designed on an adult population (N=97) between the ages of 20 and 65. The PID - Preference Intuition and Deliberation Inventory was used to obtain data on preference for decision-making styles. A set of 5 questions was designed to measure subjective satisfaction with one's own decisions. Data collection was done in an online environment and data analysis was done in SPSS software using paired t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient. The analysis included the preference for a particular style as well as correlations between other variables. The results indicate a significant difference between the styles for the sample population in favour of higher scores for deliberation. A significant relationship was also found between the intuitive style and female gender, as well as older adulthood and higher subjective satisfaction with one's decisions.
