Specific building of wireless network on the standard IEEE 802.11

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou bezdrátových sítí na standardu IEEE 802.11, které se v ČR nejčastěji používají u poskytovatelů internetového připojení (ISP). Hlavním úkolem je popsat postup konkrétní realizace spoje pro obec, případně pobočku větší firmy s více nezávislými budovami bez strukturované kabeláže a následné rozvedení internetu k jednotlivým klientům. U zařízeních pracujících ve frekvenčním pásmu 10GHz hodnotí technologie z hlediska ceny a výrobcem deklarovaných parametrů, u zařízeních pracujících ve frekvenčním pásmu 5GHz a 3,5GHz pak pouze hledisko ceny (deklarované parametry jsou v praxi často nedosažitelné). Okrajově zmiňuje problematiku zabezpečení bezdrátových sítí a uvádí pouze příklady dnes hojně používaných systémů šifrování. Na konkrétním spoji jsou ukázána praktická měření propustnosti a jsou interpretovány výsledky, proč se síť a uživatelé chová/-jí právě tímto způsobem. Závěrem bakalářské práce je komplexní náhled na problematiku vybudování kvalitní bezdrátové sítě pro obec nebo firmu s více nezávislými budovami.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with wireless networks IEEE 802.11, which are mostly used in the Czech republic by internet service providers (ISP). The main task is to describe a specific procedure of connecting a town or a branch of a larger company with more independent buildings without structured cabling and follow-up distribution of the Internet to individual clients. I'll rate wireless units operating in the 10GHz frequency band from the point of view of price and and the manufacturer declared parameters and in case of devices operating in the frequency band 5GHz and 3.5GHz I'll only rate them based on their price (declared parameters are often unattainable in practice). I'll marginally mention problems of securing wireless networks and only give examples of currently widely used encryption systems. I'll show practical measures and permeability results on a specific connection and I explain why the network and the users are behaving just this way. At the end, the thesis provides a comprehensive view on the issue of building a high quality wireless network for a town or a company with more independent buildings.
