Woman in leading positions and their influence on the performance of the company

Abstract:

Teoretická část práce vymezuje problematiku žen ve vedoucích pozicích, bariéry, které ženám ztěžují kariérní postup a zaměřuje se na přínosy účasti žen na vedení společnosti. Cílem této práce bylo poskytnout důkazy o existenci pozitivního vlivu žen ve vedoucích pozicích na výkon podniku. Po účely výzkumu bylo zvoleno odvětví poradenských společností působících v České republice a období 2013-2016. V praktické části byly porovnávány hodnoty ukazatelů, které dosáhly společnosti s výhradně mužským vedením a společnosti s genderově diverzifikovaným vedením. Výkonnost podniku byla měřena pomocí ukazatelů rentability aktiv a rentability vlastního kapitálu. Dále byla sledována také zadluženost a obrat celkových aktiv jednotlivých společností. Na základě výzkumu nelze spolehlivě potvrdit existenci pozitivního vlivu žen ve vedoucích pozicích na výkon podniku ani na zadluženost podniku. Výzkum však potvrdil existenci pozitivního vztahu mezi genderovou diverzifikací managementu a efektivitou využívání majetku společnosti.

Abstract:

The theoretical part of the Master’s Thesis defines the issue of women in leading positions, barriers that make women more difficult career path and focus on the benefits of women's participation in management. The goal of this Thesis was to provide evidence of the positive influence of women in leading positions on the performance of the company. For a research were selected consulting companies operating in the Czech Republic and the period 2013-2016. In the practical part were compared the values of the indicators achieved by companies with male management and companies with diversified management. The performance of the companies was measured by the return on assets and return on equity. An indebtedness and turnover of total assets of individual companies were also monitored. Based on the research, the positive influence of women in leading positions on the performance of the company or the indebtedness of the company cannot be reliably confirmed. However, research confirmed the existence of a positive relationship between gender diversity of management and the efficiency of using the company's property.
