Devonian submarine volcanism in the Konice-Mladeč Belt

Abstract:

Konicko-mladečský pruh je budován devonským vulkano-sedimentárním komplexem, který náleží k sedimentární sekvenci ko-nicko-mladečského pruhu řazeného do drahanského vývoje moravsko-slezského paleozoika. Vulkanické horniny jsou reprezentovány polštá-řovými lávami, pyroklastiky a masivními lávami. Společně s vulkanity vystupují jemnozrnné jesenecké vápence. Cílem práce je interpretace vztahů mezi vulkanickými a sedimen-tárními horninami konicko-mladečského pruhu a jejich porovnání s vulkano-sedimentárními formacemi šternbersko-hornobenešovského pruhu. Vybrané vzorky byly studovány v optickém mikroskopu a analy-zovány pomocí elektronové mikrosondy. Na základě mikroskopického studia nebyly zjištěny zásadní rozdí-ly mezi charakterem vulkanických facií v oblasti konicko-mladečského a šternbersko-hornobenešovského pruhu. Určitá variabilita byla zjiště-na pouze ve stupni sekundárních přeměn (např. chloritizace). Severně od obcí Dzbel a Jesenec byly v jeseneckých vápencích de-vonského až karbonského stáří nalezeny několik mm až 25 mm ostro-hranné a oválné úlomky černých fosforitů. Na základě tvaru byly fosfo-rity rozděleny do dvou skupin: intraklasty a konkrece. Přítomnost klas-tů fosforitů v asociaci s pyroklastickým materiálem naznačuje, že je jejich vznik svázán s vulkanickou aktivitou. Vulkanická aktivita svým charakterem odpovídá bazickému vul-kanismu v extenzním geotektonickém prostředí oceánských ostrovů.

Abstract:

The Konice-Mladeč Belt is being built by the Devonian volcanic-sedimentary complex, which belongs to the sedimentary sequence of the Konice-Mladeč Belt, which belongs to the Drahan development of the Moravian-Silesian Paleozoic. Volcanic rocks are represented by pillow lavas, pyroclastics and massive lavas. Fine-grained Jesenece li-mestones stand out together with the volcanic rocks. This work aims to interpret the relationships between volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Konice-Mladeč Belt and their comparison with volcanic-sedimentary formations of the Štramberk-Horní Benešov Belt. Selected samples were studied in an optical microscope and ana-lysed using an electron microprobe. Based on the microscopic study, no fundamental differences were found between the character of the volcanic facies in the area of the Konice-mladeč and Štramberk-Horní Benešov belts. Some variability was found only in the degree of secon-dary transformations (eg chlorination). North of the villages Dzbel and Jesenec, several mm to 25 mm sha-rp-edged and oval fragments of black phosphorites were found in the Jesonian limestones of Devonian to Carboniferous age. Based on shape, phosphorites were divided into two groups: intraclasts and concreti-ons. The relationship of phosphatic intraclasts formation with volcanic activity suggests occurrence of pyroclastic material within limestones. The volcanic activity corresponds to basic volcanism in the exten-sive geotectonic environment of ocean islands.
