Preparedness of novice preschool teachers for the profession

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce nese název "Připravenost začínajících učitelů mateřských škol na profesi". Cílem práce bylo zmapovat vybrané aspekty připravenosti začínajících učitelů na učitelskou profesi v mateřské škole. Tato práce je rozdělena na dvě části - teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části je pozornost věnována učiteli mateřské školy, jeho profesním kompetencím, znalostem, povinnostem a rolím, které může učitel v mateřské škole zastávat. Dále je uvedena profesní dráha učitele mateřské školy, v níž je poukázáno na začínajícího učitele, což je stěžejní téma celé diplomové práce. Na závěr teoretické části se zabýváme problematikou profesní přípravy učitelů. Druhá část diplomové práce se věnuje samotnému výzkumu, pro nějž byl zvolen kvantitativní design výzkumu. Data byla sesbírána za využití metody škálového dotazníku. Z výzkumu vyplynulo, že se začínající učitelé na svou profesi cítili být připraveni, avšak středoškolsky vzdělaní učitelé se cítili být na svou profesi lépe připraveni než vysokoškolsky vzdělaní učitelé, což bylo podmíněno absolvovanou praxí v mateřských školách.

Abstract:

The present master thesis is titled "Preparation of beginning kindergarten teachers for the profession". The aim of the thesis is to map aspects of the preparation of beginning teachers for the teaching profession in kindergarten. This thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, attention is paid to the kindergarten teacher, his professional competences, knowledge, skills, duties and roles that the teacher can play in the kindergarten. Furthermore, the career path of a kindergarten teacher is presented, in which the beginning teacher is pointed out, which is the subject of the second chapter of the theoretical part. At the end of the theoretical part, we deal with the issue of professional training of teachers, which is the central theme of the entire diploma thesis. The second part of the thesis is devoted to the research itself, for which a quantitative research design was chosen. Data were collected using the scale questionnaire method. The data has been graphically represented through tables and graphs. The research showed that novice teachers felt prepared for their profession, however teachers with secondary education felt better prepared for their profession than teachers with university education, which was conditioned by their experience in kindergartens.
