Issues Concerning the Translation of the Realia in the Work of G. García Márquez from the Theory of Communication Perspective

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on problems of translation of the realia in the short story "El rastro de tu sangre en la nieve" by Gabriel García Márquez. It is based on Milan Hrdlička`s theory of communication in translation and it also maps the perspective of cultural differences based on the theory formulated by Slovak translatologist Braňo Hochel which concerns the aspect of time and space of literary work. The practical part is dedicated to literary and discourse analysis of the mentioned story and its translations to the Czech language by Zdeněk Kalkus and Vladimír Medek, and also to the Slovak language by Eva Palkovičová. Furthermore analyzes and compares various translation solutions with regard to the translation of the realia that are the hallmark of time-spatial differences between the author, the translator and the reader.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o problematice překladu kulturních prvků v povídce "El rastro de tu sangre en la nieve" od Gabriela Garcíi Márqueze. Opírá se přitom o teorii bohemisty Milana Hrdličky o komunikaci v překladu a sleduje také hledisko kulturních rozdílů s oporou teorie slovenského translatologa Braňa Hochela o času a prostoru literárního díla. V praktické části se práce věnuje literární a diskurzivní analýze zmíněné povídky a jejích překladů do češtiny od Zdeňka Kalkuse a Vladimíra Medka, jako i do slovenštiny od Evy Palkovičové. Jsou rozebírána a porovnávána různá překladatelská řešení s ohledem na překlad konkrétních reálií, které jsou znakem časo-prostorových rozdílů mezi autorem, překladatelem a čtenářem.
