China's Environmental Policy From The Point Of View Of The Concept Of Leadership

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje aktuálnímu tématu leadership a zkoumání možností jeho využití v rámci disciplíny mezinárodních vztahů a mezinárodní politické ekonomie, konkrétně na případové studii čínské politiky životního prostředí. Úvodní část práce se zabývá politikou leadership a definicí jeho základních pojmů, prostřednictvím nichž seznamuje čtenáře s pozorností, kterou tomuto tématu věnovaly a věnují práce zahraničních autorů. Následující část poté komentuje leadership a míru jeho uplatnitelnosti v rámci subdisciplíny mezinárodních vztahů – v mezinárodní politické ekonomii. Práce dále vymezuje politiku životního prostředí a upozorňuje na možnosti uplatnění leadership v rámci dané problematiky. Případová studie je zaměřena na čínskou politiku životního prostředí a její vztah k politice leadership, která v případě správného uchopení problému disponuje výrazným potenciálem přispět k rozšíření schopnosti analyzovat mezinárodněpolitickou pozici aktéra včetně nástrojů napomáhajících k jejímu posílení. Na závěr jsou představena související rizika.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to explore the theme of leadership and its potential in context with the environmental policy of China. Its main focus is on the exploration of the main claim that the knowledge of Leadership Studies can be successfully applied in International Political Economy to form strategies for a country's leadership in a particular field. The thesis is divided into several sections. The aim of the first part is the presentation of the phenomenon of Leadership Studies and its interconnection with the study of international relations and its sub-discipline, international political economy. The following part of the paper deals with the environmental policy of China. During the last two decades it has undergone significant changes as a result of globalization and liberalization of the world green technology markets. Accordingly this part of the thesis will focus particularly on the form of China’s environmental policy and its historical background, the present state and relations with the media and business spheres. The aim of this part is a study of different approaches to environmental policy of China and how it was affected by transformation of environmental policy in context of political and economical development. A partial topic of this part is a study of the behaviour of the main in-groups and their ability to accept autonomous and original solutions, or to use traditional methods in an effort to reach China’s environmental leadership. The closing chapters present possible restrains and their potential solutions.
