Influence of stereoelectronic effects of ligands on the mechanism of C-H activation reactions

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vlivem stericity a elektronegativity ligandů na průběh C-H aktivačních reakcí. V teoretické části práce jsou diskutovány C-H aktivační a funkcionalizační reakce, řízené řídící skupinou (DG) probíhající za katalýzy palladnatých solí. Zaměřena je hlavně na funkci ko-katalyzujících kyselin používaných při C-H aktivačních reakcích. V další části se práce zaměřuje na regioselektivitu C-H aktivačních reakcí N,N-dimethylbenzylaminu a jeho fluorovaných derivátů. Poslední část se zaměřuje na stericky náročné karboxylové kyseliny, které mohou ovlivnit průběh C-H aktivačních reakcí. V experimentální části je nejprve popsána syntéza dvou stericky náročných kyselin: kyseliny tricyklohexylmethyloctové a 2,2-dimetyl-3-(adamantan-1-yl)propanové. Připravené kyseliny jsou poté podrobeny, společně s kyselinou pivalovou, methoxyoctovou, propionovou a trifenyloctovou reakcím s Pd(OAc)2 a N,N-dimethylbenzylaminem či 3-fluor-N,N-dimethylbenzylaminem. Získané komplexy jsou analyzovány pomocí NMR, kdy fluorovaný derivát je před analýzou podroben reakci s pyridinem za účelem zjištění regioselektivity C-H aktivační reakce. Základní substrát je poté použit pro nalezení vhodné C-H funkcionalizační reakce za účelem studia kinetiky reakce.

Abstract:

The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the C-H activation and functionalization reactions controlled by the directing groups (DGs) catalyzed by palladium salts. It mainly focuses on the co-catalyzing acids used in the C-H activation step. In the next part, the work summarizes the regioselectivity of C-H activation reactions of N,N-dimethylbenzylamines and its fluorinated derivatives. The last part focuses on sterically demanding carboxylic acids, which can influence the course of C-H activation reactions. In the experimental part, the synthesis of two sterically demanding acids is first described: tricyclohexylmethyl acetic acid and 2,2-dimethyl-3-(adamantan-1-yl)propanoic acid. The prepared acids then undergo, together with pivalic, methoxyacetic, propionic and triphenylacetic acid, reactions with Pd(OAc)2 and N,N-dimethylbenzylamine or 3-fluoro-N,N-dimethyl-benzylamine. The obtained complexes are then analyzed and evaluated by NMR, where the fluorinated derivatives undergo reaction with pyridine prior to analysis to determine the regioselectivity of the C-H activation reaction. The basic substrate is then used to find a suitable C-H functionalization reaction in order to study the kinetics of the reaction.
