The accuracy of predictive equations of basal and resting metabolism in women

Abstract:

To determine one’s energy requirements, one must identify the basal and resting metabolic rates, these expenditures create the base of energy output for majority of us. Basic information about the total energy output components is listed in the theoretical part of this paper along with more detailed characterization of factors which influence the basal and resting metabolic rates together with the mechanisms which can cause differences in these rates. Furthermore, available BMR and RMR measuring and estimation methods are described with the emphasis on predictive equations. The practical part’s goal was to evaluate the accuracy of chosen RMR predictive equations based on different physical parameters (bodyweight, height, fat free mass and fat mass) in a group of female respondents aged 18 to 35.

Abstract:

Pre stanovenie energetickej potreby jedinca je potrebné zistiť výšku bazálneho a kľudového metabolizmu, ktorý tvorí základ celkového energetického výdaju u väčšiny z nás. V teoretickej časti boli popísané základné informácie o zložkách celkového energetického výdaju a bližšie charakterizované faktory ovplyvňujúce bazálny a kľudový metabolizmus organizmu spolu s mechanizmami, ktoré môžu rozdiely v ich hodnotách spôsobiť. Ďalej boli popísané dostupné metódy merania a odhadu BMR a RMR s dôrazom na prediktívne rovnice. Cieľom praktickej časti bolo zhodnotiť výpovednú hodnotu vybraných prediktívnych rovníc RMR založených na odlišných telesných parametroch (telesná hmotnosť, telesná výška, hmotnosť beztukovej a tukovej hmoty) u skupiny respondentiek ženského pohlavia v rozmedzí 18-35 rokov.
