Spiritual needs of hospitalized erderly

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of this bachelor thesis was to find out the significance and fulfilment of the spiritual needs of seniors in hospitalized facilities, to compare differences between believers and non-believers selected as respondents and find out whether nurses' interest in spiritual needs is sufficient. Methodology: The research group consisted of 60 respondents treated at the internal department. The research was conducted from February 2019 to March 2019. For the research was used the questionnaire of spiritual needs, which assessed the scale of the significance and fulfilment of needs. This questionnaire contained 28 items divided into five areas. Results: Through the investigation it was found out that the faith affects the importance and fulfilment of needs. The most important was the need to be in the nature and experience its beauty, but just this need was the least fulfilled. Having a talk with patients and kind words of nurses contribute to fulfilment of spiritual needs of patients. Conclusion: Spiritual needs are an important part of human life, not just of believers but each of us. Let us behave towards the seniors with love and patience and so that we help them fulfil their spiritual needs.

Abstract:

Ciel: Cieľom bakalárskej práce bolo zistiť dôležitosť a naplnenosť duchovných potrieb hospitalizovaných seniorov. Porovnať rozdiely medzi veriacimi a neveriacimi respondentami a zistiť, či záujem sestier o duchovné potreby je dostatočný. Metodika: Výskumný súbor tvorilo 60 respondentov liečených na internom oddelení. Výskum bol realizovaný od februára 2019 do marca 2019. K tomuto šetreniu bol použitý dotazník spirituálnych potrieb, ktorý hodnotil škálu dôležitosť a naplnenosť potrieb. Tento dotazník obsahoval 28 položiek rozdelený do piatich oblastí. Výsledky: Šetrením bolo zistené, že viera ovplyvňuje dôležitosť a naplnenosť potrieb. Najviac dôležitou bola potreba byť v prírode a zažiť jej krásu a zároveň aj najmenej naplnenou potrebou. Rozhovor a pekné slovo sestier pomáhajú pacientovi pri napĺňaní duchovných potrieb. Záver: Duchovné potreby sú dôležitou súčasťou ľudského života nie len veriacich, ale každého z nás. S láskou a trpezlivosťou pristupujme k seniorom a pomáhajme im v naplňovaní duchovných potrieb.
