Current view of midwife's competences in the Czech Republic and Slovakia

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of midwifery competencies in Czechia and Slovakia. With their current legislative settings and real fulfillment in practice. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part introduces the definition of terms related to midwifery, a brief historical overview and the role of midwife in the care of a pregnant woman and a woman during and after childbirth. It also includes a comparison of the legislation in both countries, which are placed in a table for better overview. The practical part includes methodology, own research, which took place qualitatively in the form of interviews with midwives, mothers after physiological birth and doctors-obstetricians from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In total, 19 interviews were conducted and their analysis pointed to the deplorable state of Slovak obstetrics and the poor fulfillment of the midwifery competencies. In the Czech Republic, satisfaction with the current situation prevails and further changes are still being fought.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá problematikou kompetencií pôrodných asistentiek v Českej a Slovenskej republike, ich aktuálnym legislatívnym nastavením a reálnym napĺňaním v praxi. Práca sa delí na teoretickú a praktickú časť. Teoretická časť prináša vymedzenie pojmov súvisiacich s odborom pôrodnej asistencie, stručný historický prehľad odboru, rolu pôrodnej asistentky v starostlivosti o tehotnú ženu a rodičku počas a po pôrode. Taktiež obsahuje porovnanie platnej legislatívy v oboch štátoch, ktoré sú pre lepší prehľad prezentované v tabuľke. Praktická časť zahŕňa metodiku, vlastný výskum, ktorý bol realizovaný kvalitatívne, formou rozhovorov s pôrodnými asistentkami, rodičkami po fyziologickom pôrode a lekármi-pôrodníkmi z Českej republiky aj Slovenska. Dokopy bolo uskutočnených 19 rozhovorov, ktorých analýza poukázala na žalostný stav slovenského pôrodníctva a nízke uplatnenie kompetencií pôrodných asistentiek. V Českej republike prevažuje spokojnosť s aktuálnym stavom a stále sa bojuje o ďalšie nové zmeny v pôrodníctve.
