E-learning of biogeography in primary and secondary schools

Abstract:

Magisterská práce se zabývá využitím online platforem Nearpod a Gather.town při distanční výuce biogeografie na středních školách a druhém stupni základních škol. Cílem práce je vytvoření komplexního manuálu pro synchronní distanční výuku, využívající zmíněné platformy, který by mohl sloužit jako opora a zdroj informací pro učitele. Práce se věnuje oboru biogeografie s bližším zaměřením na podobory fytogeografie a zoogeografie. Představuje některé vědecké i popularizační zdroje využitelné pro výuku biogeografie a obsahuje rozbor učiva biogeografie v rámcových vzdělávacích dokumentech pro základní vzdělávání a pro gymnázia a srovnávací analýzu učebnic zeměpisu (geografie) a přírodopisu (biologie) pro střední a základní školy. Část práce je zaměřena na distanční výuku a v souvislosti s ní na platformy Gather.town a Nearpod. Představeny jsou možnosti práce s těmito platformami a obě jsou také porovnány s alternativními výukovými platformami. V závěru práce je na příkladu učiva fytogeografie a zoogeografie vypracován soubor materiálů využitelný pro synchronní distanční výuku využívající obě zmíněné digitální platformy. V práci byly využity metody studia a kompilace informací z různých zdrojů, deskripce, explanace, komparace a kvantitativní a komparativní obsahová analýza.

Abstract:

The master thesis deals with the use of online platforms Nearpod and Gather.town in distance teaching of biogeography in secondary schools and second level of primary schools. The aim of the thesis is to create a comprehensive manual for synchronous distance learning, using the platforms mentioned above, which could serve as a support and source of information for teachers. The thesis is devoted to the field of biogeography with a closer focus on the subfields of phytogeography and zoogeography. The work presents some scientific and popular resources useful for teaching biogeography and includes the analysis of the learning content of biogeography in the framework educational programmes for primary education and for grammar schools and a comparative analysis of geography and biology textbooks for secondary and primary schools. Part of the work focuses on distance learning and in connection with it on the Gather.town and Nearpod platforms. The possibilities of working with these platforms are presented in this thesis and both platforms are also compared with alternative learning platforms. At the end of the thesis a set of materials that can be used for synchronous distance learning is developed using both mentioned digital platforms on the example of the field of phytogeography and zoogeography. The work used methods of studying and compiling information from various sources, description, explanation, comparison and quantitative and comparative content analysis.
