Epidemiology of patients with depression in relationship to COVID19 period

Abstract:

Pandemie koronaviru hluboce zasáhla lidské životy po celém světě. Měla neblahý dopad na spoustu lidí a jejich duševní zdraví. Odhady stavu zdraví populace jsou důležité pro účinné plánování dostatečné zdravotní péče a preventivní opatření. V této práci je pomocí dat NZIS provedena analýza hodnotící dopad období pandemie COVID19 na epidemiologii pacientů s depresí. Během období pandemie COVID19 došlo k nárůstu prevalence i nových případů deprese. Nejvíce ohroženi byli mladší a starší pacienti. Zvýšily se také průměrné výše dávek užívaných antidepresiv a průměrný počet terapií na pacienta. Naopak došlo ke snížení průměrného počtu dní hospitalizace a hospitalizovaných pacientů. U pacientů, u kterých probíhala léčba deprese již před pandemií, bylo zjištěno navýšení průměrných dávek léčiv a snížení průměrného počtu dní hospitalizace a počtu psychoterapií. Závislost mezi proděláním onemocnění COVID19 a následným rizikem rozvoje deprese nebyla potvrzena.

Abstract:

The coronavirus pandemic has deeply affected human lives around the world. It has had an unfortunate impact on many people and their mental health. Estimates of popu-lation health are important for effective planning of adequate health care and preventive measures. In this bachelor's thesis, using NZIS data, an analysis is conducted to assess the impact of the COVID19 pandemic period on the epidemiology of patients with depression. During the COVID19 pandemic period there was an increase in the prevalence and new cases of depression. Younger and older patients were most at risk. The average dose levels of antidepressants used and the average number of therapies per patient also increased. Conversely, there was a decrease in the average number of days of hospitalization and the number of patients hospitalized. Patients who were already being treated for depression before the pandemic showed an increase in the average doses of drugs and a decrease in the average number of days of hospitalization and number of psychotherapies. The association between experiencing COVID19 and subsequent risk of developing depression was not confirmed.
