Contribution to the sociology of secrecy and current understanding of transparency in political culture

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou diskrétnosti a transparentnosti a snaží se popsat výzkumný terén, v jakém se bádání pohybuje. Staví zejména na sociologické teorii Georga Simmela a jeho popisu diskrétnosti a tajných společností, které jsou stále považovány za základní kameny konceptu diskrétnosti. Pozornost je věnována rovněž aktuálním trendům ve výzkumu, kde jsou představeny poznatky z aktuálních čísel odborných časopisů. Naopak u transparentnosti se práce věnuje současným badatelským otázkám a upozorňuje na nedostatky většinového vnímání transparentnosti, která je obecně přijímána jako politicko-kulturní ideál moderní doby. Pohled je upřen hlavně na kritiku transparentnosti a aféru organizace WikiLeaks, která poskytla k fenoménu transparentnosti nové metodologické otázky.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of secrecy and transparency and tries to describe the research landscape in which the research moves. It builds mainly on the sociological theory of Georg Simmel and his description of secrets and secret societies which are still considered fundamental to the concept of secrecy. Attention is also paid to current trends in research, which presents the findings of the current issues of professional journals. On the contrary, the transparency deals with current scholarly issues and highlights the shortcomings of the major perception of transparency, which is generally accepted as the political and cultural ideal of modern times. The view is mostly focused on the criticism of transparency and organization WikiLeaks affair that provided to the transparency phenomenon new methodological questions.
