Microbial aspects of an operation of children nappies laundry

Abstract:

Cílem našeho výzkumu bylo ověření účinnosti vybraných desinfekčních prostředků použitých při praní látkových dětských plen. Srovnávali jsme účinnost použití zředěné kyseliny peroxyoctové a peruhličitanu sodného. Desinfekce je nutná, neboť v případě přítomnosti infekce v dětské plence může při společném praní dojít ke kontaminaci ostatních plenek a následně i dětí patogenními mikroorganismy. Z tohoto důvodu je nutné najít vhodnou metodu desinfekce i s ohledem na životnost materiálu. Na základě výrazných rozdílů v počtu sledovaných mikrobiálních skupin (celkových počtů bakterií, sporulujících bakterií, střevních bakterií a kvasinek) u dvou srovnávaných prostředků lze shledat, že desinfekční (oxidační) účinky kyseliny peroxyoctové jsou oproti peruhličitanu sodnému výrazně vyšší. Co se týče ostatních skupin patogenních a deterioračních organismů, jako jsou patogenní prvoci a plísně, předpokládáme jejich choulostivost vůči vyšším teplotám, což bylo v případě plísní ověřeno i experimentálně v rámci prvního laboratorního pokusu u Aspergillus niger a A. oryzae, Penicillium funiculosum, Gliocladium virens a Rhizopus stolonifer, kdy došlo během desinfekčního praní k jejich redukci o čtyři řády až na pouhé desítky jednotek tvořících kolonie.

Abstract:

The aim of our research is to verify the effectiveness of selected disinfectants used in washing cloth baby diapers. We compared the effectiveness of using dilute peroxyacetic acid and sodium percarbonate. Disinfection is necessary because if an infection is present in the baby diaper, it may contaminate other diapers with pathogenic microorganisms during the joint washing. For this reason, it is necessary to find a suitable method of disinfection also with regard to the liveliness of the material. Based on the significant differences in the number of colony-forming units between the two agents compared, the disinfecting (oxidising) effects of peroxyacetic acid are many times higher than those of sodium percarbonate. With regard to other pathogenic organisms, such as certain strains of fungi and moulds, we assume that they are susceptible to higher temperatures, which was verified experimentally in the case of moulds in the first laboratory experiment with Aspergillus niger and oryzae, Penicillium funiculosum, Gliocladium virens and Rhizopus stolonifer, where they were reduced by four orders of magnitude to only tens of individuals.
