The role of the KPIs in corporate management

Abstract:

The master thesis “The role of KPIs in corporate management” attempted to understand the phenomenon of KPIs, its theoretical background and its position within the complex system of corporate management. After the theoretical introduction, the analysis of the selected case took place within which The Global Fund for fighting AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, its approach towards KPIs and its usage of the indicators was analyzed. The practical part provided support for the hypothesis stating that KPIs are one of the most important elements of corporate management. The analysis of the organization’s set of KPIs focused on the reasoning behind their selection, the practical measures, their targets and also the connection and relation to the overall organization’s strategy. The practical part of the thesis demonstrates that potential nonexistence of KPIs would mean a significant loss for the Global Funds management strategy and as already mentioned it also supports the hypothesis which states that KPIs are a tool of substantial importance in the field of management.
