Doping in bodybuilding and his effect on health

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá dopingem v kulturistice a jeho dopadem na zdraví. Jde o přehledovou studii, která popisuje jednotlivá zdravotní rizika a shrnuje nejčastěji užívané látky v kulturistice. Cílem bylo shrnout poznatky o vývoji kulturistiky a užívání zakázaných látek, zmapovat nejpoužívanější metody a látky používané v kulturistice a jejich vedlejší účinky na zdraví sportovce. Informace byly vyhledávány pomocí klíčových slov ve vědeckých databázích PubMed, Google Scholar a Mendeley. Vyhledané informace musely splňovat daná kritéria jako např. časové období od roku 2014 do roku 2024. Bylo zjištěno, že doping má vždy vedlejší účinky, kdy jejich vážnost a doba trvání pak záleží na druhu užívané látky, na jejím množství a délce jejího užívání. V teoretické části se práce zaměřuje na stručný výklad historie, charakteristiku jednotlivých dopingových prostředků a metod jejich užití. Hlavní část práce se pak věnuje konkrétním zdravotním rizikům spojených s dopingem a látkám, které jsou nejčastěji užívané v kulturistice.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with doping in bodybuilding and its impact on health. It is an overview study that looked for individual health risks and summarized the most frequently used substances in bodybuilding. The goal was to summarize knowledge about the development of bodybuilding and the use of prohibited substances, to map the most used methods and substances used in bodybuilding and their side effects on the athlete's health. Information was searched using the keywords mentioned here in the scientific databases PubMed, Google Scholar and Mendeley. The information sought had to meet certain criteria, such as the time period from 2014 to 2024. It was found that doping always has side effects, and their severity and duration depend on the type of substance used, its amount and the duration of its use. In the theoretical part, the thesis focuses on a brief interpretation of the history and characteristics of individual doping agents and methods of their use. The main part of the work is devoted to specific health risks associated with doping and substances that are most often used in bodybuilding.
