V jednom ze současných směrů vývoje programování je snaha nepsat software od začátku, ale používat již vytvořené komponenty třetích stran. Dříve než vývojář sestaví software z těchto komponent, je potřeba ověřit, zda jsou kompatibilní. Current development tends not to write software from the beginning but use third party components instead. Once a developer builds an application from these components, he or she desires to verify whether they are compatible.
