Managerial Knowledge and Skills as a Tool for Leadership

Abstract:

Cílem práce je komparace vybraných kvalifikačních a osobnostních požadavků na manažera na střední úrovni řízení v neziskovém sektoru, komerční sféře a státní správě na území Ústeckého kraje. V oblasti osobnostních požadavků srovnávám důležitost předem vybraných měkkých dovedností, z nichž dále stanovuji soubor „TOP 5“ nejžádanějších. V oblasti kvalifikačních požadavků srovnávám v těchto třech segmentech pracovního trhu také nároky na formální vzdělání, jazykovou vybavenost, předchozí praxi a další kvalifikační výhody manažera. Výchozím předpokladem je, že se budou v každé pracovní oblasti preference osobnostních požadavků na manažera lišit. V komerční sféře navíc předpokládám zvýšenou četnost požadovaných tvrdých dovedností. Práce je rozdělena do pěti kapitol. První se zaměřuje na vymezení základních pojmů v oblasti managementu a na popis metod managementu. Ve druhé popisuji požadavky pro výkon manažerské profese. Třetí kapitola blíže určuje dovednosti manažera včetně soft skills a hard skills s podrobným popisem 22 vybraných měkkých dovedností. Čtvrtá kapitola uvádí nejčastější chyby a rizika manažera. V páté kapitole srovnávám specifika tří pracovních prostředí výkonu manažerské profese. Pátá kapitola zahrnuje komparaci nároků na manažera, teoretický popis kvantitativního výzkumu a metody sběru dat, vlastní rozbor a interpretaci empirického výzkumu. V závěru uvádím kromě stanovené „TOP 5“ také doporučení pro zájemce o manažerskou profesi na střední úrovni řízení.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is the comparison of the chosen personal demands and demands of qualification on manager in the middle management in non-profit sector, commercial sphere and public administration in the Ústí Region. In the area of personal demands I compare the importance of beforehand chosen soft skills from which I thence determine the file of „TOP 5“ the most required demands. In the area of demands of qualification I compare also in these three segments of the labour market the claims of formal education, linguistic facilities, previous practice and other advantages of the next qualifications. The initial assumption is that in the each proffesional sphere will be required different personal demands. I presume also the increased frequency of the hard skills in the commercial sphere. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first one is focused on the definition of the basic terms in the area of the management and on the description of the methods of management. In the second one I describe demands of the managerial proffesion. The third one closer determines the skills of manager including soft skills and hard skills together with detailed description of 22 chosen 22 soft skills. The fourth one gives the most frequent mistakes and risks of manager. In the fifth one I compare the specifics of three working surroundings for the performance of the managerial proffesion. The fifth chapter includes the comparison of the demands put on manager, theoretical description of quantitative research eith the method used, its own analysis and interpretation of the empiric research. In the end I mention besides the determined file of „TOP 5“ also recommendation for the person interested in the managerial proffesion in the middle management.
