Recreational expenditures as dependent on family characteristics and inflation

Abstract:

Cílem práce je ověřit, jak se výdaje na rekreaci liší v závislosti na inflaci a charakteristice rodiny, konkrétně její příslušnosti k určité společenské skupině. Základním metodologickým nástrojem práce je regresní analýza aplikovaná na sekundárních datech Statistiky rodinných účtů ČSÚ, které se týkají spotřebních výdajů rodiny a jejích charakteristik. Výzkum zjistil, že mezi charakteristiky, které mají z věcného hlediska nejvýznamnější dopad na velikost výdajů na rekreaci, patří počet osob v domácnosti, věk, pohlaví a vzdělání přednosty domácnosti. Byl nalezen taktéž statisticky významný rozdíl mezi domácnostmi seniorů a domácnostmi ekonomicky aktivních členů. Práce rovněž zkoumala vliv míry inflace na průměrné výdaje na rekreaci pomocí měření elasticity výdajů na bydlení na inflaci, přičemž výsledky této analýzy nasvědčují, že se mezi těmito proměnnými nenachází žádný významný vztah. Inflace tak překvapivě nemá významný vliv na vývoj výdajů českých domácností na rekreaci.

Abstract:

The aim of the study is to examine how household expenses on recreation vary depending on inflation and the characteristics of the family, specifically between different household social groups. The fundamental methodological tool employed in the study is a regression analysis applied to secondary data from Family Budget Surveys conducted by the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ) that concern households´ consumption expenditures and characteristics. The study found out that among the characteristics having the most significant impact on size of household expenditures on recreation belong: the number of household members; age, gender, and education level of the household head. Additionally, a statistically significant difference was found between households of seniors and households of economically active members. The study also examined the influence of the inflation rate on average recreational expenditures using elasticity of household expenditures on recreation on inflation, with the results of this analysis suggesting that there is no significant relationship between these variables. Surprisingly, inflation thus has no significant impact on the level of Czech household expenditures on recreation.
