Abstract:

The thesis deals with the phenomenon of American exceptionalism because this issue is omnipresent among many people, not only Americans. Nonetheless, it is rather confusing and opinions differ. This thesis endeavors to inspect various perspectives on this topic and give an objective overview of them. American exceptionalism is an issue that has had a great effect on American literature, society, and foreign policy ever since its origin. The author of the thesis attempts to look at each aforementioned area and seeks traces of American exceptionalism within them.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem Amerického pocitu výjimečnosti, jelikož toto téma je všudy přítomné ve společnosti jak americké, tak mezinárodní. Nicméně je tento fenomén poněkud nejasný a matoucí. Tto diplomová práce se tudíž zabývá rozličnými perspektivami na toto téma a rovněž nabízí jejich objektivní přehled. Americký pocit výjimečnosti je záležitost, jejíž vliv na Americkou literaturu, společnost a rovněž zahraniční politiku je nezměrný již od založení USA. Autor této práce se snaží nahlédnout do výše zmíněných oblasti a hledat v nich stopy amerického pocitu výjimečnosti.
