Integration Policy in Sweden – a Comparison between the Integration Policy between 1993-1995 and 2014-2016

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to investigate and compare the objectives of the inte-gration policy in Sweden, namely the integration policies in 1993–1995 and in 2014–2016. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the historical development of the inte-gration policy in Sweden, its key objectives in the two periods and the primary focus is put on the entry of immigrants into the labour market, their education and discrimination. The practical part of the bachelor thesis includes an analysis of data obtained from offi-cial government documents and two case studies. Its aim is to show concrete examples of the integration of immigrants into Swedish society in practice and at the same time to compare their experience in two different periods twenty years apart. A comparison of these findings shows that, although the whole process of immigrant integration has im-proved significantly in Swedish society, areas such as the discrimination of immigrants in the labour market or the segregation of immigrants in large cities still require conside-rable attention and potential systemic or legislative amendments.

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je zkoumat a porovnat cíle integrační politiky ve Švédsku, a to mezi integračními politikami v letech 1993–1995 a 2014–2016. Teoretická část této práce popisuje historický vývoj integrační politiky ve Švédsku, popisuje její přední cíle v jednotlivých obdobích a zvýšenou pozornost věnuje zejména vstupu přistěhovalců na trh práce, vzdělání a diskriminaci. Praktická část bakalářské práce zahrnuje analýzu dat získaných z oficiálních vládních dokumentů a dvě případové studie. Jejím cílem je ukázat konkrétní příklady integrace přistěhovalců do švédské společnosti v praxi a zároveň po-rovnat jejich zkušenosti ve dvou různých obdobích v časovém rozmezí dvaceti let. Po-rovnání těchto zjištění poukazuje na to, že přestože ve švédské společnosti došlo k výraznému zkvalitnění celého procesu integrace přistěhovalců, oblasti, jako jsou diskriminace přistěhovalců na trhu práce či segregace přistěhovalců v oblastech velkých měst stále vyžadují zvýšenou pozornost a potenciálně i systémové nebo legislativní úpravy.
