Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na vývoj Voodoo v Louisianě, především v New Orleans. Voodoo v New Orleans je jedinečné směsicí různých náboženství, vír a tradic, které do sebe začlenilo. Už na samotném začátku se navzájem ovlivnily africké kmeny, jichž členové by dovezeni do Noveho světa jako otroci. Práce vysvětluje základní charakteristiky Voodoo, jakými změnami za dobu jeho existence prošlo. Lidé praktikující Voodoo uctívají velké množství duchů, v práci jsou obsaženy ti nejdůležitější. Tím nejvíce uctívaným je Li Grand Zombi, duch zaujímající podobu ducha. Jsou zmíněny prvky Voodoo, které se nacházejí pouze v New Orleans.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the development of Voodoo in Louisiana, especially in New Orleans. Blend of different religions, traditions and faiths that were integrated into New Orleans Voodoo makes it unique. From the beginning, the members of different African slaves who were brought to the New World and enslaved influenced each other. The thesis explains basic characteristics of Voodoo and the changes it underwent. Voodoo practitioners honour a large amount of spirits, so the thesis contains only the most important ones. The most worshiped spirit is Li Grand Zombi who is represented by the form of a snake. Unique elements of New Orleans Voodoo are also mentioned.
