Haemophilia - The Genealogical and Historical Context

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na geneticky podmíněné onemocnění, projevující se zejména poruchou srážlivosti krve, známé jako hemofilie. Hlavním cílem práce je shrnout dostupné informace o hemofilii a uceleně je předat odborné i laické veřejnosti. Práce se především snaží poukázat na historické pozadí této nemoci a její dopady na životy evropských šlechticů, kteří hemofilií trpěli. Dále se snaží popsat charakter této nemoci, problematiku a význam krevního srážení a hemokoagulace a v neposlední řadě její genetický a genealogický podklad. V závěru je zmíněn výskyt nemoci v České republice.

Abstract:

This dissertation is focused on a genetic medical disorder which manifest itself especially in blood coagulability disorder known as hemophilia. The main intention of this work is to summarize available information about hemophilia and present it coherently to both professionals and the lay public. The dissertation shows the historical background of the disease and its effect on lives of European aristocrats who suffered from hemophilia. Furthermore, the work describes the character of the disease, the whole issue and the importance of coagulability and hemocoagulability and last but not least it displays enormous significance of genetics and genealogy basis of coagulability. Finally, the occurrence of this disease in the Czech Republic is mentioned.
