Skepticism in the philosophy of David Hume

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje kritické filosofií Davida Huma. Po krátkém seznámení s životem Davida Huma a jeho začleněním do filosofického kontextu se práce věnuje pojmům skepticismus a agnosticismus, které definuje a začlení do historického kontextu. V následující části se práce zaměřuje na Humovu epistemologii, a následně na jeho pojetí kauzality, indukce a substance. V závěrečné kapitole se práce zaměří na Humův jedinečný skepticismus a pokusí se zhodnotit, zda je označení Davida Huma jako skeptika oprávněné.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the critical philosophy of David Hume. After a brief acquaintance with the life of David Hume and his introduction into the philosophical context, the work deals with the concepts of skepticism and agnosticism, which the author defines and puts into a historical context. In the following section, the thesis focuses on Hume's epistemology and subsequently on his conception of causality, induction and substance. In the final chapter, the work focuses on Hume's unique skepticism and attempts to assess whether the label of David Hume is justified as a skeptics.
