Geoblocking and its circumvention in terms of information policy of European Union

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce řeší téma Geoblocking a jeho obcházení z pohledu informační politiky Evropské unie. Geoblocking je forma blokující technologie, která limituje přístup k internetovému obsahu na základě geologické lokace uživatele. Text práce je zaměřený na specifikaci této technologie, určení důvodů její existence a vysvětlení otázek jak a proč se geoblocking obchází. Vzhledem k informační politice EU, která zavádí opatření proti geoblokačním technologiím na svém území je poslední část práce věnována vysvětlení důvodů proč má geoblokace zaniknout a možným dopadům plynoucí z její absence.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with geoblocking and its circumvention in terms of information policy of European Union. Geoblocking is a form of blocking technology that restricts access to Internet content based on a user's geological location. The text of the thesis is focused on specifying this technology, determining the reasons for its existence and explaining the questions how and why geoblocking is circumventing. With regard to the EU's information policy introducing measures against geoblocking technologies in its territory, the last part of the work is about explaining why geoblocking should cease to exist and what the potential impacts of its absence are.
