On Jewish Defiance in the Czech After-War Literature

Abstract:

Tématem mé diplomové práce je židovský vzdor v české poválečné literatuře. Z široké nabídky děl jsem vybrala pět knih, ve kterých se v různých podobách objevuje vzdor židů vůči násilí a pasivitě: román Norberta Frýda Krabice živých, novelu Romeo, Julie a tma Jana Otčenáška, román Ladislava Fukse Pan Theodor Mundstock, novelu Arnošta Lustiga Modlitba pro Kateřinu Horovitzovou a román Jiřího Weila Život s hvězdou. Úvod každé kapitoly věnuji osobnosti autora, v dalších částech analyzuji jednotlivá díla se zaměřením na kompoziční výstavbu, postavy, motivy, jazyk, symboly, aluze a prostor. Pro přehlednost uvádím poznámkový aparát za každou kapitolou, seznam veškeré použité literatury se nachází v závěru práce. Určitým východiskem a poučením mi byla odborná literatura, monografie autorů a dobová kritika.

Abstract:

The theme of my diploma work is Jewish Defiance in the Czech After – War Literature. From the wide range of fiction I have chosen five books which contain different forms of Jewish)s defiance against the force and pasivity: Norbert)s novel Vivids) Box, Jan Otčenášek)s novelette Romeo, Juliette and the Dark, Ladislav Fuks)s novel Mistr Theodor Mundstock, Arnošt Lusitg)s novelette Pray for Katherine Horovitz and Jiří Weil)s novel Life with the Star. I devote each chapter introduction to the personality of author, in the other parts I analyse particular fiction with the view to compositional construciton, characters, motives, language, symbols, references and space. I also include comments behind each chapter for illustration, the list of all literature is situated at the end of the work. Certain ways out and advices for me were special literature, authors) monographs and criticism with the abreast of the time.
