Každá vyspělá země má ve své legislativě nějakým způsobem implementováno provozování pojišťovací a zajišťovací činnosti a s tím související dohled. Instituce tohoto dohledu můžou mít různou formu a podobu. Every developed country has somehow implemented insurance and reinsurance business and related supervision in its legislation. Institutions of this supervision can have a different form and shape.
