The Preparation and Realization of the Assessment Center

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je představit metodu Assessment Center (AC) a popsat průběh její konkrétní aplikace. Nejprve vymezujeme pojem AC, oblast jeho využití, jednotlivé fáze procesu a role členů týmu v AC. Dále se zaměřujeme na teoretická východiska AC. Podrobněji rozebíráme kompetenční přístup a kompetenční modely, z nichž při výstavbě Assessment Center vycházíme. Zabýváme se i psychometrickými charakteristikami metody. Závěrem teoretické části shrnujeme výhody a nevýhody využití AC při výběru zaměstnanců. Praktická část popisuje aplikaci této metody v praxi, konkrétně při výběru kandidátů na pozici interního trenéra pro společnost působící v oblasti provozu čerpacích stanic. Představujeme postup tvorby AC od analýzy pracovní pozice, přes sestavení kompetenčního modelu, až po vlastní realizaci AC a jeho důsledky pro praxi.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to introduce an Assessment Center (AC) method and to describe its concrete practical application. First, we define the term AC, the field of its application, particular phases of this process and roles of each member of the AC team. Then we focus on the theoretical background of AC. We take a close look at the competency approach and competency models which are used for the AC design. We consider also psychometrical characteristics of this method. At the end of the theoretical part we summarize advantages and disadvantages of using AC as a tool for employees’ selection. The practical part describes the application of this method in practice, concretely using the AC as a selection tool on position of internal trainer in a petrol business company. We introduce the process of designing and realization of AC and implementation of its outcomes in practice.
