X-ray radiography and tomography

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci se zabývám rentgenovým zářením, zvláště pak jeho využitím v oboru výpočetní tomografie (CT). Hlavním cílem práce bylo otestovat novou aparaturu. Jejími částmi jsou rentgenka a scintilační stínítko (součásti malého školního difraktometru PHYWE), rotační stolek a digitální fotoaparát. Pomocí této aparatury byla naměřena série radiogramů. K tomu bylo potřeba navrhnout a na 3D tiskárně vytisknout vhodný fantom. Z radiogramů byl sestaven sinogram a rekonstruován řez objektem. Tento proces jsem naskriptoval v GNU Octave. V programech CTsim a SRCLsim byl vytvořen numerický model objektu, bylo nasimulováno měření radiogramů. Z těch byly také sestaveny sinogramy a byly rekonstruovány řezy objektem. Výsledky jednotlivých rekonstrukcí byly porovnány. Pořídil jsem také sérii radiogramů opičí lebky. Rekonstrukce řezů lebkou a následné sestavení 3D modelu vyžaduje další optimalizaci měření.

Abstract:

In this bachelor's thesis, I study X-ray radiation, especially its applications in the field of computed tomography (CT). The primary objective of this work was to test new laboratory apparatus. Its components consist of X-ray tube and scintillation screen (parts of a small school diffractometer PHYWE), a rotating table and a digital camera. I captured a series of radiograms using this equipment. For this purpose, a suitable phantom was designed, and 3D printed. A sinogram was assembled from the radiographs and a slice of the object was reconstructed. This process was scripted it GNU Octave. A numerical model of the phantom was also created in CTsim and SRCLsim programs. Radiogram measurements were simulated and sinograms were assembled. Slices of the object were reconstructed, which allowed for a comparison between the various reconstructions. I also captured a series of radiograms of a monkey skull. Further optimalization is required to reconstruct slices of the skull and subsequent assembly of the 3D model.
