Causal Relations in German and Czech: Compex Sentence with weil, da, zumal, denn

Abstract:

Annotation The diploma thesis focus on German conjuctions weil, da, zumal and denn and their Czech language equivalents. In theory their substitution into the German grammar system is examined concerning German complex sentences theories, especially clauses expressing the causal relations. Follow-on the pieces of knowledge of grammar preposition systems are summarized reflecting the equivalences in the Czech language. The theoretical part is supported by detailed analysis of more than 500 authentic examples of causal clauses gained from the Germano-Czech collateral corpus. Complex sentences are divided into groups according to concrete prepositional positions depending if prepositions are positioned as determining ordinate or subordinate clause. The separate sentences are added with its Czech propositional equivalent. In the final part the frequency of the found Czech equivalents to German conjunctions weil, da, zumal and denn is represented by bar graphs. Using the pie charts the frequency of the most commonly used Czech and German equivalent conjunctions protože and neboť as the Czech equivalent to the German conjunctions denn are presented. In the Conclusion the testing of the hypothesis is evaluated.

Abstract:

Anotace Magisterská práce se zabývá německými spojkami weil, da, zumal a denn a jejich ekvivalenty v češtině. Teoreticky je zkoumáno jejich zařazení do systému německé gramatiky jako kompilace teorie německého souvětí, zvláště souvětí vyjadřujícího příčinné vztahy. Pak jsou shrnuty poznatky z gramatik o daných konkrétních předložkách a jejich českých ekvivalentech. Následuje rozbor více než 500 autentických příkladů kausálních souvětí získaných z česko-německého paralelního korpusu. Jednotlivá souvětí jsou roztříděna do skupin podle konkrétní předložky a podle toho, zda předložka uvozuje v souvětí větu hlavní či vedlejší. U každého souvětí je uveden český ekvivalent německé spojky v něm použité. V závěru je četnost nalezených českých ekvivalentů německých spojek weil, da, zumal a denn zobrazena pomocí sloupcových grafů. Pomocí kruhových grafů je znázorněna četnost nejčastějších českých a německých příčinných spojek, dále četnost německých ekvivalentů spojek protože a neboť a českých ekvivalentů německé spojky denn. Na závěr je vyhodnoceno testování hypotéz.
