The effect of repeated sterilization on the abrasion resistance of anodic layers for trauma implants

Abstract:

Tato práce je zaměřena na hodnocení užitných vlastností tenkých vrstev vytvořených metodou anodické oxidace na substrátech tvořených titanovou slitinou Ti6Al4V. Práce řeší vlastnosti vrstev, dodaných firmou Medin, a.s. v souladu s certifikovanými postupy, které jsou určeny k použití jako ochrana traumatologických implantátů. Traumatologické implantáty a různé nástroje, jako jsou např.: hřeby, dlahy, kostní šrouby, zevní fixátory a drobné implantáty používané v oblasti medicíny, jsou určeny pro operační léčbu zlomenin a jiných poranění. Teoretická část práce je zaměřena na bližší seznámení čtenáře s problematikou tvorby tenkých vrstev pro konkrétní aplikace a s významem termínů biomateriál a biokompatibilita. Experimentální část je zaměřena na hodnocení vlastností 6 typů připravených tenkých anodických vrstev. Vzorky byly podrobeny sérii testů s cílem v první řadě vyhodnotit základní vlastnosti neupravených materiálů vrstev a ve druhé vyhodnotit vliv opakované parní sterilizace na užitné vlastnosti a biokompatibilitu vrstev.

Abstract:

This work is focused on the evaluation of the useful properties of thin layers created by the method of anodic oxidation on substrates made of titanium alloy Ti6Al4V. The work deals with the properties of the layers supplied by Medin, a.s. in accordance with certified procedures intended for use as protection of traumatological implants. Traumatology implants and various instruments such as: nails, plates, bone screws, external fixators and small implants used in the field of medicine are intended for operative treatment of fractures and other damages. The theoretical part of the thesis is aimed at making the reader more familiar with the issue of creating thin layers for specific applications and with the meaning of the terms biomaterial and biocompatibility. The experimental part is focused on evaluating the properties of 6 types of prepared thin anodic layers. The samples were subjected to a series of tests with the aim, first of all, to evaluate the basic properties of the untreated materials of the layers and, secondly, to evaluate the effect of repeated steam sterilization on the useful properties and biocompatibility of the layers.
