The Demystification of a Western Hero. Neoformalist analysis of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Anotácia:

Tato bakalářská práce analyzuje Zabití Jesseho Jamese zbabělcem Robertem Fordem (2007) režiséra Andrew Dominika. Text vychází z neoformalistické teorie Davida Bordwella a Kristin Thompsonové. První část se soustředí na nástroje analýzy a historicko-kulturní podtext filmu. Druhá část textu užívá vymezené analytické nástroje v praxi při analýze narace, stylu a dominanty filmu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis analyses The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) directed by Andrew Dominik. The text is based on David Bordwell’s and Kristin Thompson‘s neoformalist theory. The first part is focused on the tools of the analysis and the historical-cultural subtext of the film. The second part of the text uses said tools in an analysis of narrative, style and film’s dominant.
