H.P. Lovecraft's Influence on Pop Culture

Abstract:

This diploma thesis analyzes the influence of writer Howard Phillips Lovecraft on popular culture. Several publications already deal with this phenomenon, however, these publications are either outdated or do not provide a sufficient amount of information on this particular topic. Therefore, this thesis aims to provide a wider and updated spectrum of information and thus show how Lovecraft's influence persists in popular culture to this day. Furthermore, the thesis provides information about the writer and his work so the reader can attain a better understanding of the significance of his pop cultural impact.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vlivem spisovatele Howarda Phillipse Lovecrafta na populární kulturu. Existuje několik publikací, které se tímto fenoménem zabývají. Tyto publikace jsou však zastaralé, nebo neposkytují dostatečné množství informací na dané téma. Práce si tudíž klade za úkol poskytnout širší a aktualizované spektrum informací, a tak prokázat, že Lovecraftův vliv na populární kulturu přetrvává dodnes. Práce navíc poskytuje informace o autorovi a jeho díle, aby čtenář lépe porozuměl významu jeho vlivu na popkulturu.
